        "content": "<p>The Indonesian Ombudsman has confirmed its readiness to fully oversee\nthe implementation of the 2026 School Admission System (SPMB).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOmbudsman will monitor three phases: pre-implementation,\nimplementation, and post-implementation,\u201d said Ombudsman member Nuzran\nJoher Nuzran in a statement on Saturday in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the Ombudsman contributes according to its mandate\nthrough annual oversight.<\/p>\n<p>Nuzran noted that in 2025, the Ombudsman received 194 public\ncomplaints related to SPMB.<\/p>\n<p>As part of systemic improvements, the Ombudsman has submitted\nrecommendations and improvement suggestions to the Ministry of Basic and\nSecondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), the Ministry of Home Affairs\n(Kemendagri), and local governments to enhance SPMB governance.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, the Ombudsman\u2019s commitment to SPMB oversight was\nformalised through the signing of a Joint Commitment for the 2026\/2027\nSchool Year on Thursday, 21 May in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement was signed by Nuzran alongside Minister of Basic and\nSecondary Education Abdul Mu\u2019ti and various other ministries and state\nagencies.<\/p>\n<p>The signing marks a strategic multi-agency step to ensure SPMB is\nconducted objectively, transparently, accountably, fairly, and without\ndiscrimination.<\/p>\n<p>Signatories include Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR\nRI), the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI), the Presidential\nStaff Office, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and\nCulture (PMK), Kemendagri, the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag), the\nMinistry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), and the Ministry of Women\u2019s\nEmpowerment and Child Protection (PPPA).<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the agreement was signed by the Government\nCommunication Agency (Bakom RI), the Indonesian National Armed Forces\nHeadquarters (Mabes TNI), the National Police (Polri), the Attorney\nGeneral\u2019s Office, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the\nIndonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), and the National\nDisability Commission (KND).<\/p>\n<p>During the event, Nuzran praised Kemendikdasmen for initiating the\njoint commitment.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the move reflects a collective understanding among\nstate institutions to achieve more inclusive SPMB implementation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a significant step forward where collective understanding\namong state institutions has been translated into a unified effort to\nimplement the 2026 SPMB in an inclusive, transparent, accountable, and\nnon-discriminatory manner,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Abdul Mu\u2019ti added that the involvement of multiple agencies\nin the commitment demonstrates strong support for creating a better\nschool admission system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe presence of all of you is proof of personal and institutional\nsupport to ensure SPMB runs smoothly. Let\u2019s implement it together,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>SPMB Timeline<\/p>\n<p>Data shows that the 2026\/2027 School Year SPMB implementation\ngenerally begins with pre-registration and socialisation from April to\nMay 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The registration and school selection process is scheduled to take\nplace from June to July 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The estimated timeline for various admission pathways and levels\n(primary, secondary, high school) is as follows:<\/p>\n<p>April\u2013May 2026: Pre-registration, socialisation, preparation, and\naccount activation\/document verification.<\/p>\n<p>Early to mid-June 2026: Opening of registration for Affirmative\nAction Pathway, Merit Pathway, and Relocation Pathway (parent\nrelocation).<\/p>\n<p>Mid to late June 2026: Opening of registration for the\nZoning\/Domicile Pathway.<\/p>\n<p>Late June\u2013early July 2026: Announcement of selection results,\nre-registration process, and School Orientation (MPLS).<\/p>\n<p>However, exact dates may vary by region as per technical guidelines\nissued by local governments and education departments.<\/p>\n<p>For example, in Jakarta, online registration and school selection are\nscheduled between 15 June and early July 2026, depending on the level\nand pathway stage.<\/p>",
