        "content": "<p>The Indonesian Ombudsman (ORI) is working to ensure that vulnerable\ngroups and persons with disabilities can be reached by various National\nStrategic Projects (PSN), such as the Sekolah Rakyat (People\u2019s Schools)\nprogramme, through enhanced oversight. During a meeting with the\nNational Commission on Disability (KND) in Jakarta on Tuesday, ORI\nmember Maneger Nasution stated that the institution is continuously\ntaking steps to prevent maladministration, particularly within the PSN.\n\u201cPrevention is carried out, among other means, through the supervision\nof the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, the Village\/Sub-district\nRed and White Cooperatives, and the Sekolah Rakyat,\u201d Maneger said. He\nemphasized the importance of proactive collaboration to oversee public\nservices, especially for disability groups. By partnering with the KND,\nthe Ombudsman is committed to optimising its persuasive role to\nencourage disability-friendly public services. It was noted that the\nnumber of public complaints regarding disability issues reported to the\nOmbudsman has shown an increasing trend each year. \u201cThis indicates a\nrise in public awareness to report issues,\u201d he added, stating that\ncollaboration with the KND is therefore strategic for improving the\nquality of public services. Maneger stressed that this cooperation\nshould not be merely ceremonial but must be realised through routine\nprogrammes such as joint monitoring of public service facilities. He\nadded that the collaboration will also extend to involving Ombudsman\nrepresentative offices in the regions. \u201cGoing forward, it is necessary\nto hold a special coordination meeting between the Ombudsman and the KND\nto discuss the annual report on public services for disability groups,\u201d\nManeger revealed. This initiative was positively received by the KND\ncommissioners. KND Chairperson Dante Rigmalia acknowledged that the\nfulfilment of the rights of persons with disabilities in the public\nservice sector has not yet been optimal, making the Ombudsman\u2019s presence\nas an external supervisory body crucial.
