        "content": "<p>JAKARTA - The Attorney General\u2019s Office (AGO) has revealed the modus\noperandi employed by Hery Susanto (HS), Chairman of the Ombudsman, in a\nsuspected criminal corruption case concerning the governance of nickel\nmining operations in Southeast Sulawesi from 2013 to 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Head of the AGO\u2019s Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, stated\nthat Hery engaged in fabrication and manipulation after being promised\nRp1.5 billion to assist PT TSHI.<\/p>\n<p>The case originated when the owner of PT TSHI faced issues with\nnon-tax state revenue (PNBP) calculations by the Ministry of Forestry\nand objected to making the payment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSubsequently, Mr HS, serving as a Commissioner of the Ombudsman for\nthe 2021-2026 period, agreed to help by conducting an inspection of the\nMinistry of Forestry, ostensibly stemming from a public complaint,\u201d\nAnang said in his statement on Thursday (16\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result, the Ombudsman issued a correction ordering PT TSHI to\ncalculate its own obligations to the state,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>To facilitate this plan, Hery met several times in April 2025 with\nrelevant parties from PT TSHI.<\/p>\n<p>During these meetings, LKM, Director of PT TSHI, asked Hery to\nidentify administrative errors in the PNBP - Forest Area Borrowing\nPermit (IPPKH) calculation process as outlined in the Ministry of\nForestry\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn agreement, Mr HS was to receive Rp1.5 billion,\u201d Anang added.<\/p>\n<p>Following this, Hery manipulated and issued the Ombudsman\u2019s\nInspection Result Report (LHP) in line with the agreement with PT\nTSHI.<\/p>\n<p>After being named a suspect, Hery was detained for the next 20 days\nat the Salemba Detention Centre branch of the South Jakarta District\nProsecutor\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>As the suspect in this case, Hery is charged under Article 12 letter\na in conjunction with Article 12 letter in conjunction with Article 5\nParagraph (2) in conjunction with Article 18 of the Law on the\nEradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Hery is charged under Article 606 paragraph (2) of Law\nNumber 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 18 of\nthe Law on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.<\/p>",
