Ltd. said it will set<br>\nup an Indonesian unit in March 1996 to produce telephone cables,<br>\ncords for car mobile phones, and connectors.<\/p>\n<p>The new company, PT Oki Electric Cable Batam, will be<br>\ncapitalized at US$6 million. It will be owned 90 percent by Oki<br>\nElectric Industry Co. Ltd. and 10 percent by Oki Electric Cable<br>\n(Asia) Pte Ltd, which is OEC's Southeast Asian sales unit. Oki<br>\nElectric Industry owns 33.5 percent of OEC.<\/p>\n<p>The company will start output in April 1996, and hopes to<br>\nachieve annual sales of some 500 million yen in the year to March<br>\n1997, and of one billion yen in 1997\/98.<\/p>\n<p>The company will create 250 jobs in 1997\/98.<\/p>\n<p>More than 50 percent of the products made by the new company<br>\nwill be exported to Japan, and the rest will be marketed in<br>\nSoutheast Asian countries, a OEC spokesman said.<\/p>",
