        "content": "<p>Oka Sulaksana expected to snatch Olympics medal<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Yachting Association (Porlasi) is<br>\nsetting a medal-winning target for the country's best windsurfer,<br>\nOka Sulaksana, at the Sydney Olympics next year.<\/p>\n<p>Porlasi deputy chief of athlete development affairs Raymond<br>\nKotambunan said he believed Oka's ample experience gave him a<br>\nrealistic chance of taking a medal.<\/p>\n<p>\"He is far improved now and more mature. His victory at the<br>\nAsian Games has given him a formidable boost to his morale to<br>\nshine at the Olympics,\" Raymond said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Oka grabbed an Asian Games gold medal in his favorite IMCO<br>\nheavy division last December to become Indonesia's first Asiad<br>\nwinner in the sport.<\/p>\n<p>The Balinese finished 13th in his Olympic debut in Atlanta,<br>\nGeorgia, three years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Oka is gearing up for the Asia-Pacific zone qualifying<br>\ntournament for the World Championships in Guam next month.<br>\nVictory would earn the 27-year-old athlete a ticket to the<br>\nOlympics.<\/p>\n<p>Raymond said Oka would have other chances to travel to Sydney<br>\neven if he failed in Guam.<\/p>\n<p>\"As long as he manages to complete all races in Australia-<br>\nOceania and European zones, he will qualify for the Olympics.\"<\/p>\n<p>Only 40 athletes will qualify for the Olympics. The eligible<br>\nwindsurfers will come from the World Championships in New<br>\nCaledonia in November, the Pre-Olympics in Sydney in February<br>\n2000, plus winners of the Asia Pacific, Australia Oceania, North<br>\nAmerica, South America and Europe zones. The international<br>\nwindsurfing body will give five wild cards, including one for the<br>\nhost country.<\/p>\n<p>Oka will again train under Chris Lawrence, an Australian coach<br>\nwho successfully guided him to win his first Asiad gold. Junior<br>\nsurfers Fadli Faisal and Ray Gunadi will join the training stint<br>\nin Bali.<\/p>\n<p>Both Fadli and Ray are expected to qualify for the World<br>\nChampionships, according to Raymond.<\/p>\n<p>Raymond said Lawrence would accompany the trio of windsurfers<br>\nduring trips to Europe from May to July and Australia from<br>\nOctober to January 2000.<\/p>\n<p>\"Although Oka is technically good, he still needs assistance<br>\nfrom his coach who will motivate him and arrange tactics and<br>\nstrategy for him.\" (yan)<\/p>",
