The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has stated that the\nfinalisation of the Presidential Regulation on the online transport\necosystem together with the government will strengthen protection for\nonline motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers and couriers delivering goods and\nfood.<\/p>\n
Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said the finalisation\nof the Presidential Regulation involved a number of relevant ministries,\nincluding the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, the\nMinistry of Transportation, and the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium\nEnterprises.<\/p>\n
\u201cTariffs for goods and food are regulated by Komdigi, passenger\ntransport tariffs by the Ministry of Transportation, while online\ntransport operators will be overseen by the Ministry of MSMEs,\u201d Dasco\nsaid after the finalisation meeting on the Presidential Regulation with\nthe government at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday\n(18\/8).<\/p>\n
Dasco said the protection in the regulation is no longer limited to\npassenger transport drivers, but also covers couriers delivering goods\nand food.<\/p>\n
He explained that the meeting was part of the DPR\u2019s oversight\nfunction as well as to absorb the aspirations of online transport\noperators following a number of meetings with relevant ministries.<\/p>\n
According to Dasco, tariffs for passenger, goods, and food transport\nhave been simulated, but still need to go through a harmonisation\nprocess so they cannot yet be announced.<\/p>\n
He said there will still be one meeting with the relevant ministries\nas well as one meeting with online motorcycle taxi driver organisations\nand app companies before the Presidential Regulation is issued.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe ask all parties to be patient. Let us wait for the Presidential\nRegulation, hopefully everything can run well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Minister of MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman said his ministry will\nmeet with associations, online motorcycle taxi driver communities, and\napp companies to absorb final aspirations before the regulation is\nissued.<\/p>\n
According to Maman, this step is necessary so that online motorcycle\ntaxi drivers can develop and improve their welfare, including through\nother business opportunities in the digital ecosystem, such as MSMEs and\nmerchants partnering with platforms.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will invite the community, ojol associations, and app companies\nto meet and absorb final aspirations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria\nsaid his ministry will involve more platforms and drivers to find an\noptimal tariff balance point.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said the\nregulation, which originally focused on passenger transport, has been\nexpanded in accordance with the direction of President Prabowo Subianto\nand the DPR RI leadership.<\/p>\n
For passenger transport, Dudy said the commission of app companies is\ncapped at a maximum of 8% so that drivers receive at least 92%. This\nprovision has been in effect since 1 July 2026 through a Decree of the\nMinister of Transportation.<\/p>\n
For now, he said he will directly lead the harmonisation process of\nthe Presidential Regulation after the regulation was finalised together\nwith the DPR RI.<\/p>\n
