The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has clarified that the relaxation of the Financial Information Services System (SLIK) policy, which excludes loan arrears below Rp1 million from records, is intended to streamline the housing loan (KPR) process, particularly for the government's three million homes programme, rather than to evade non-performing loan (NPL) notations. OJK officials noted that such small credits are typically minor fees or fines and remain internally recorded by lenders, with the measure supporting subsidised housing access for those with minor credit issues. Nationally, banking NPL ratios improved to 2.17% in February 2026 from 2.22% the previous year, while Bali's rate dropped to 2.60% in January 2026 from 3.14%.

Jakarta, VIVA – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has emphasised
that the relaxation of the Financial Information Services System (SLIK)
policy, which does not record loan arrears below Rp1 million, is not
intended to avoid problematic credit records (non-performing
loans/NPLs). It was stressed that the purpose of not recording credits
below Rp1 million is to facilitate the process of granting people’s
housing loans (KPR), especially from the government’s programme to
realise three million homes. “The potential concern (avoiding NPL
records) seems small,” said the Head of OJK Bali, Parjiman, in Denpasar,
Bali, on Wednesday, 15 April 2026. Parjiman added that SLIK is one of
the considerations in granting credit from banks, to know the debt
history of prospective debtors in credit payments if they have a history
of borrowing. Meanwhile, credits below Rp1 million are still recorded by
the financial services institution providing the credit. “The amount of
one million is also relatively small, sometimes it is administrative
costs or fines that are forgotten and not paid by customers or debtors,”
he said. Previously, OJK Commissioner Chairman Friderica Widyasari Dewi
stated that the financial services institution regulator fully supports
the government’s priority programme in building three million homes for
Indonesian society. With this relaxation, she continued, the SLIK
records displayed for customer data will only include credits of Rp1
million and above. In addition, updating credit repayment data a maximum
of H+3 after repayment is made, providing SLIK data access to BP Tapera
to accelerate the housing financing process, and affirming subsidised
housing credit as a government priority programme in terms of
guarantees. With these new SLIK regulations, it allows people with small
credit records to still apply for subsidised home ownership loans (KPR).
Nationally, OJK recorded the quality of banking credit (gross NPL) in
the country in February 2026 at 2.17%, lower than the same period in
2025 at 2.22%. Meanwhile, in Bali, NPL is also maintained and lower in
January 2026 at 2.60%, compared to the same period in 2025 at 3.14%.
",
