PT Pertamina (Persero) will optimise operational efficiency across
its entire business chain in response to global oil prices that have
exceeded 100 US dollars per barrel due to the US-Israel conflict with
Iran.

“The company is optimising operational efficiency across the entire
business chain,” said Pertamina Vice President for Corporate
Communication Muhammad Baron to ANTARA when reached in Jakarta on
Monday.

Additionally, Pertamina is also communicating with the government
regarding national energy policy in response to the surge in global oil
prices.

Brent crude oil briefly reached 118 US dollars per barrel for the
first time since 17 June 2022, according to reports. This price is
significantly higher compared to the average oil price in January 2026,
when Brent (ICE) was at 64 US dollars per barrel, and US WTI was at
57.87 US dollars per barrel.

Despite fluctuations in oil prices, Baron assured that fuel supply
remains secure amid the war between the US-Israel coalition and
Iran.

“Pertamina is committed to maintaining operational reliability and
ensuring that energy supply to the public remains secure,” he
stated.

The surge in global oil prices has been triggered by escalating
conflict between the United States and Israel against Iran. Iran has
retaliated with a series of large-scale attacks targeting US military
bases, diplomatic facilities, and military personnel throughout the
region, as well as several cities in Israel. The attacks continue to
intensify.

On Sunday (8 March), the US and Israel launched air strikes targeting
Iranian oil storage facilities in Tehran and its surroundings. The
strikes caused severe damage to several storage facilities, including
the Shahran Oil Depot.
",
