        "content": "<p>Oil deposit in Covalima<\/p>\n<p>KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: A survey conducted by state-owned<br>\noil company, Pertamina, has found an oil deposit along the<br>\ncoastal area of Covalima regency, East Timor.<\/p>\n<p>Covalima regent Herman Sudyono told Antara here last week that<br>\nthe size of the deposit has yet to be estimated.<\/p>\n<p>\"The survey's results have been brought to Jakarta to<br>\ndetermine on whether or not the oil deposit will be explored,\" he<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>He said there are signs that the Portuguese colonial<br>\nadministration had attempted to exploit the resources in the<br>\narea. Several pieces of drilling equipment were still left on<br>\nshore.<\/p>\n<p>He said he hoped Indonesia could start exploration in December<br>\nthis year.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of the local legislative council Toto Marinho Pinto<br>\nsaid that the oil deposit should be tapped to help improve the<br>\nwelfare of the local people.
