        "content": "<p>Officials accused in dossiers scam<\/p>\n<p>MEDAN, North Sumatra: The head of the North Sumatra<br>\nProsecutor's Office, Harahap, said on Tuesday that several<br>\nregents, mayors, civil servants and project heads in the province<br>\nwere suspected of involvement in manipulating at least 200<br>\ndossiers here.<\/p>\n<p>He said the errant officials fabricated dossiers to prove that<br>\ntheir projects were still up and running and that they were being<br>\ntransparent in their accounting.<\/p>\n<p>\"Therefore they were able to obtain more fresh funding for<br>\ntheir projects,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>Harahap, however, declined to disclose the officials names.<\/p>\n<p>He said that based on Law No. 31\/1991 on corruption, collusion<br>\nand nepotism, people who manipulated dossiers could face a<br>\nminimum jail term of six years.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that 28 of the 200 cases had been brought to<br>\ncourt while the rest were still being investigated. --JP<\/p>",
