Official regrets residents' evacuation<\/p>\n
JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: Maj. Gen. Mahidin Simbolon, the chief of
\nthe Trikora Military Command overseeing Irian Jaya, said he
\nregretted the evacuation of the residents and administration of
\nIllaga to Mulia in the Puncak Jaya Regency, following a return to
\ncalm in the small town.<\/p>\n
The evacuation was conducted by small chartered plane in
\nphases at the initiative of the Puncak Jaya regent.<\/p>\n
\"The regent should have made a field tour of Illaga to see the
\nreal situation here, instead of removing residents and all civil
\nservants to Mulia, because everything has returned to normal,\"
\nMahidin said here on Monday.<\/p>\n
The situation gradually returned to normal after the military
\ncommand took over the town and its airport from rebels recently.<\/p>\n
\"What is the use of us taking over the town from the
\nseparatist movement after the locals and administration were
