Officer's fiancee shot by colleague<\/p>\n
MANOKWARI, Irian Jaya: A police sergeant from Windesi Police
\nsub-precinct in Manokwari regency allegedly accidentally fired
\nhis gun while cleaning the weapon on Monday evening, killing the
\nfiancee of one of his fellow officers.<\/p>\n
Antara reported on Tuesday that Second Sgt. Syarifudin
\naccidentally pulled the trigger of his gun at 4:45 p.m. on
\nMonday. The bullet killed Adriana Moses, the girlfriend of First
\nSgt. Herman.<\/p>\n
Officer Syarifudin was cleaning his gun after being deployed
\nto help secure the polls a few hours earlier.<\/p>\n
Wounds suffered by the Irianese woman had not been clarified,
\nbut police said the tragic incident and any misunderstandings
\nfollowing from it between the two officers had been solved with
\nthe help of the chief of the Windesi Police sub-precinct.<\/p>\n
Adriana's body was shipped to Manokwari by boat and was
\nexpected to arrive at Manokwari Hospital on Tuesday evening for a
\npostmortem examination.<\/p>\n
Separately, a member of the military killed a resident of
\nGresi district in Jayapura regency and seriously injured another
\non Monday evening.<\/p>\n
The dead victim was identified as Robby, 22, while his wounded
\nfriend was identified as Jan Piet Taime, also 22.<\/p>\n
According to witnesses, the two were shot by Pvt. Hadi Rianto
\nfrom the Garuda I Land Task Force after failing to stop their
\npick-up at Sabeyap T-junction in Kemtuk district.<\/p>\n
Locals said the two may have been unable to halt their vehicle
\non the steep road.<\/p>\n
Jan Piet Taime was still receiving treatment at a local
\nhospital.<\/p>\n
