He said that the setting of parking tariffs should take zoning into\naccount. High tariffs, according to him, would be relevant to apply in\nareas with high density and economic activity, but would not be\nappropriate if applied uniformly.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the area has changed into a business area, it is reasonable that\nthe roads are limited and parking is expensive. But the implication is\nthat business owners could lose out because expensive tariffs make\npeople reluctant to come,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Therefore, he said, before setting parking tariffs, the government\nneeds to map the public\u2019s ability to pay and the local economy.<\/p>\n
