        "content": "<p>The government must establish standards that can be implemented by\nMSME players to protect the personal data of their customers.<\/p>\n<p>Nailul Huda, Director of Digital Economy at the Center of Economics\nand Law Studies (Celios), believes the government needs to create\npersonal data protection standards that are easily applicable for micro,\nsmall, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).<\/p>\n<p>Nailul stated that such standards are necessary given the low level\nof literacy among MSME players regarding the risks of personal data\nmisuse, ensuring that the provisions of the Personal Data Protection Law\n(UU PDP) can be effectively applied by business owners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government must create standards that can be implemented by MSME\nplayers to protect the personal data of MSME customers, including\ntechnical guidelines for minimum security standards,\u201d Nailul told ANTARA\nin Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, he noted that the government needs to provide free\nassistance or training and consider fiscal incentives to help MSMEs\nincrease their data protection capacity.<\/p>\n<p>He also encouraged large digital platforms, including marketplaces,\nto provide UU PDP compliance features so that MSMEs do not have to build\nentire data protection systems independently.<\/p>\n<p>These efforts are considered vital because MSMEs do not only act as\nparties responsible for protecting consumer data, but also have the\nright to receive protection for their own data when operating on digital\nplatforms.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, MSME players are also vulnerable to becoming\nvictims of data misuse, ranging from transaction and payment fraud to\nthe use of data for illegal online loan applications.<\/p>\n<p>Nailul assessed that there are challenges in implementing the UU PDP\nat the MSME level, including a lack of understanding of basic concepts\nsuch as data controllers and processors, limited human resources for\ncybersecurity, manual recording systems, and budget constraints for\nbuilding better security systems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe the implementation of the UU PDP must be carried out\nimmediately, accompanied by capacity building for MSME players, so that\nthe UU PDP does not become an obstacle to MSME digitalisation,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>",
