        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Energy observer Feiral Rizky Batubara has\ncommended PT Pertamina (Persero) for developing used cooking oil as a\nsource of sustainable energy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPertamina\u2019s move to develop UCO (used cooking oil) demonstrates\nconsistency in carrying out the energy transition agenda. This approach\nis not merely about emission reductions or the development of low-carbon\nenergy, but also about how new energy sources can create added value\ndomestically and strengthen national energy resilience,\u201d said Feiral in\na statement issued in Jakarta on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, developing UCO into Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)\nshows consistency in pursuing the energy transition agenda while\nsimultaneously building a new industrial ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>Feiral, who also serves as a member of the Advisory Council of the\nIndonesian Renewable Energy Society (METI), said the shift towards\nsustainable energy can in fact grow from something very close to\neveryday society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe development of used cooking oil into Sustainable Aviation Fuel\nis one concrete example. Used cooking oil, previously regarded as waste,\ncan be transformed into energy feedstock with added value,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Feiral, Indonesia\u2019s energy transition needs to be placed\nwithin a broader perspective. The development of alternative energy can\nserve as an instrument to reduce dependence on imported energy,\nstrengthen domestic industrial capacity, and open up new economic\nopportunities.<\/p>\n<p>He assessed that the utilisation of UCO still has considerable room\nfor development, both for SAF and other bioenergy products. The\nchallenge lies in building an adequate collection system, appropriate\neconomic incentives, quality standards, traceability systems, and\ngovernance capable of guaranteeing supply sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the entire supply chain can be built domestically, the benefits\nwill be far greater than simply producing low-carbon fuel. We are\nbuilding an industry, creating jobs, enhancing technological capability,\nand at the same time strengthening energy resilience,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
