        "content": "<p>NZ urged to boycott Bali<\/p>\n<p>AUCKLAND (AFP): New Zealand tourists are being urged to<br>\nboycott the Indonesian resort of Bali because of events in East<br>\nTimor.<\/p>\n<p>Auckland organizers of a \"Boycott Bali Campaign\" have been<br>\npicketing Indonesian airline Garuda at Auckland International<br>\nAirport, calling for tourists to stay away from the island resort<br>\nuntil Indonesian police and troops withdraw from East Timor.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign reportedly has been backed by Nobel Peace Prize<br>\nlaureate Jose Ramos-Horta, an East Timorese resistance leader.<\/p>\n<p>Tourists have been advised to keep a low profile.<\/p>\n<p>James Funnell, spokesman for the ministry of foreign affairs<br>\nand trade, said: \"I don't want people thinking that they've got<br>\nto slink around and stay in hotel rooms.\"<\/p>\n<p>\"But it is fairly clear there have been a few protests and<br>\ngeneral anger directed at the countries involved in the United<br>\nNations peacekeeping effort there.\"<\/p>\n<p>Some travel agents say they are asking customers to think<br>\ntwice before going to Indonesia.<\/p>",
