Nurses stage protest<\/p>\n

More than 100 nurses of Cikini private hospital held
\na demonstration on Friday, demanding the hospital management
\nincrease their salaries and take legal action against a
\ncorruption case in the hospital.<\/p>\n
The demonstration, which proceeded for about two hours in
\nfront of the hospital, was held peacefully and did not disrupt
\nhospital services or traffic into and out of the hospital.<\/p>\n
The demonstrators, who were mostly women, asked the hospital
\nmanagement to increase nurses' salaries, health allowance and
\ntransportation allowance. They also asked the management to
\ninvestigate the suspected misappropriation of Rp 2.5 billion of
\nthe employees' pension fund.<\/p>\n
But Herika, the head of the hospital's human resources
\ndepartment, told The Jakarta Post by phone that not all the
\ndemonstrators were Cikini hospital nurses.<\/p>\n
\"Most of them are from the Indonesian Nurses Union (Serpindo).
\nThey asked the nurses here to join the demonstration,\" she said.<\/p>\n
She added that the salaries of Cikini hospital nurses were
\nactually quite good, but the management would, nevertheless, pay
\nattention to their demands. \"But we can't do it right away, as we
\nhave to discuss it first.\"<\/p>",
