Nurhayti expected to grab five golds in cycling<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's most promising woman cyclist,
\nNurhayati, is expected to grab five gold medals at the 19th SEA
\nGames in October, an official said.<\/p>\n
Sofian Ruzian, the national cycling team manager, said on
\nTuesday that the five golds would most likely come from track and
\nroad races.<\/p>\n
\"Nurhayati told us that she will certainly take part in the
\nfive cycling events,\" Sofian said. \"We only hope she can capture
\nthe gold medals.\"<\/p>\n
Nurhayati, from Yogyakarta, will compete in the 20-kilometer
\nindividual team trial (ITT), sprint, 3,000-meter individual
\npursuit (IP) and 70-kilometer individual road race (IRR).<\/p>\n
It has been reported that Nurhayati may quit cycling after the
\nSEA Games.<\/p>\n
According to Sofian, Nurhayati has no rival in Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n
\"So, we believe she will do her best in the five events.\"<\/p>\n
In the 20km ITT, Nurhayati will compete against Chalem
\nChompusri, the gold medalist from Thailand at the 1995 SEA Games
\nin Chiang Mai, Thailand.<\/p>\n
At the Chiang Mai Games, Nurhayati was defeated by Chalem for
\nthe first time. Nurhayati and an official were suspicious that
\nher time was fiddled with to prevent her from winning the event,
\nAntara reported on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
For the 20km ITT, Nurhayati will be partnered with Tuti
\nSuhesti while Chalem will be supported by Banna Champou and Prane
\nSoraton.<\/p>\n
Thailand will also be represented by their best women cyclists
\nSirinya Nantrapon and Tilipawan Jantorn. Both Sirinya and
\nTilipawan will be tough rivals for Nurhayati and Selly Guntari.<\/p>\n
Banna and Sirinya will race in the 3000m IR and 30km point
\nrace while Chalem will not only race for the 20km ITT but also
\nthe 70km IRR.<\/p>\n
\"The biggest challenge for our women cyclists will come from
\nThailand,\" Sofian said. \"I am optimistic that Nurhayati and her
\nteammates will do their best.\"<\/p>\n

The Indonesian women's track and road race team are:<\/p>\n
20km ITT: Nurhayati, Tuti Suhesti and Nuraeni.<\/p>\n
Sprint: Nurhayati, Cecilia and Selly Guntari.<\/p>\n
3000m IP: Nurhayati, Selly Guntari and Tuti Suhesti.<\/p>\n
Point race: Nurhayati, Nuraeni and Selly Guntari.<\/p>\n
70km IRR: Nurhayati, Nuraeni, Selly Guntari and Sudatin.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian Swimming Association is still waiting for the
\narrival of 10 swimmers who have not returned home from training
\noverseas.<\/p>\n
Kristiono Sumano, the association's deputy secretary-general
\nsaid on Tuesday that the National Sports Council had called on
\nthe swimmers to return in September at the latest.<\/p>\n
\"We expect that the swimmers will return on Thursday after
\nfinishing their training stints abroad,\" Kristiono said. \"The
\nswimmers will join the other 12 swimmers for further practice
\nprior to the SEA Games.\"<\/p>\n
The association has already sent a letter to the swimmers,
\nKristiono said.<\/p>\n
\"But their coach wanted the swimmers to finish their training
\nprograms first before returning home,\" Kristiono added.<\/p>\n
The 10 swimmers are Richard Sam Bera, Wishnu Wardana, Felix
\nSutanto, Albert Sutanto, Denny Kurniawan, Audi Oktavian, Elsa
\nManora Nasution and Olga Halim (all are training in the United
\nStates), Catherine Surya in Australia and Metri W. Pangestika in
\nGermany.<\/p>\n
In the swimming events at the Games, Kristiono said that
\nIndonesians will enter all 32 events.<\/p>\n
\"Observing from the swimmers' performance, only Richard and
