Jakarta\u2019s High Court (PT) in DKI Jakarta has upheld the five-year\nprison sentence handed down to Nurhadi, the former Secretary of the\nSupreme Court. The KPK hopes the ruling will provide a deterrent. \u2018The\nKPK hopes this decision can provide a deterrent and serve as a reminder\nthat integrity is the foundational pillar in carrying out duties and\npowers as a state administrator and law enforcement official,\u2019 KPK\nspokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Friday (22 May 2026). He\nsaid the appellate court\u2019s decision is consistent with the\nfirst-instance ruling of the Jakarta Central District Court against\nNurhadi. \u2018The KPK appreciates the decision of the High Court panel in\nDKI Jakarta that upheld the first-instance verdict against the Defendant\nNurhadi,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n
Previously, Nurhadi was sentenced to five years by the Central\nJakarta District Court. The judges found him guilty of receiving\ngratuities and TPPU (money laundering). \u2018We sentence the Defendant to a\nprison term of five years,\u2019 said presiding judge Fajar Kusuma Aji when\nreading the verdict at the Corruption Court in Central Jakarta on\nWednesday 1 April. The judge also fined Nurhadi Rp 500 million. If the\nfine is not paid, it is to be substituted with 140 days\u2019 detention.<\/p>\n
The judge also ordered Nurhadi to pay a replacement sum of Rp\n137,159,183,940 (about Rp 137.16 billion). The court said Nurhadi\u2019s\nassets may be seized and auctioned to pay the replacement; if\ninsufficient, this could be replaced with three years\u2019 detention.\n\u2018Imposed an additional penalty on the Defendant to pay a replacement\namount of Rp 137,159,183,940,\u2019 the judge added.<\/p>\n
The court indicated that Nurhadi received money from various parties\ntotalling Rp 137 billion. It noted a significant upswing in transactions\nafter Rezky married Nurhadi\u2019s daughter, Rizqi Aulia Rahmi. The court\nalso found that Nurhadi was involved in TPPU.<\/p>\n
The court reported that Nurhadi, via Rezky, placed funds totalling Rp\n307,206,571,463 and USD 50,000 into other people\u2019s accounts, bought land\nand buildings, and purchased motor vehicles. It also considered\nNurhadi\u2019s legitimate income from his business of swiftlet nest farming,\nvalued at Rp 66.9 billion.<\/p>\n
The judicial process proceeded to appeal.
