Nur Mahmudi visits chief justice<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Former forestry minister Nur Mahmudi Ismail
\naccompanied by his lawyer Adnan Buyung Nasution met Supreme Court
\npresident Bagir Manan here on Tuesday to persuade the latter to
\nhelp him in his attempts to retain his win in the recent Depok
\nmunicipal election.<\/p>\n
\"We came here to plead for the case of Pak Nur Mahmudi to be
\ntried soon (by the Supreme Court),\" Buyung said after the two-
\nhour meeting.<\/p>\n
However, Bagir recently said the lower court's verdict that
\nfavored Nur Mahmudi's rival, Badrul Kamal of the Golkar Party,
\nwas final and legally binding.<\/p>\n
The West Java High Court annulled in July the victory of Nur
\nMahmudi, a former Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) leader, and
\ninstead ruled that Badrul was the winner of the direct election.<\/p>\n
Buyung said he and his client presented Bagir with a report on
\nthe process of the lower court's controversial decision against
\nNur Mahmudi during the meeting.<\/p>\n
\"We have just handed over a letter called an ad informandum to
\ngive him (Bagir) information. It's not a legal effort, because
\nthe Depok elections commission has already filed a request for
\nthe Supreme Court to review the verdict,\" Buyung said. --Antara<\/p>",
