Number of poor people increases<\/p>\n

Many people are concerned about the soaring prices of almost
\nall commodities, including the basics, and this situation has
\nmade the cost of living to go up also; all while Muslims take
\npart in Idul Fitri festivities.<\/p>\n
In the wake of the fuel price increase many small- and medium-
\nsized businesses are on the brink of bankruptcy, which will
\naffect the employees' jobs. The employees fear they may lose
\ntheir jobs because their companies may cut staff.<\/p>\n
In this context, the government should be responsible for the
\ngrowing number of poor people, solely because it has adopted
\npolicies and made decisions that were not based on the people's
\naspirations.<\/p>\n
One may wonder what the legislators have done so far for the
\npeople they are supposed to represent. Meanwhile, the government
\nhas time and again stressed that its programs or projects are
\nreally aimed at improving the condition of the people. But in
\nreality that is not the case. On the other hand, it is the power
\nholders and the privileged few who manage to live lavishly at the
\nexpense of the suffering of the poor.<\/p>\n
It seems that the government officials have adopted a \"why
\nbother attitude\" and they are indifferent about what is going on
\naround them. Quo vadis Indonesia?<\/p>\n
