SEMARANG: Nine Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) activists went on a hunger
\nstrike here on Tuesday to protest the General Elections
\nCommission (KPU) for disqualifying former president Abdurrahman
\n\"Gus Dur\" Wahid from the July 5 presidential election on medical
\ngrounds.<\/p>\n
The strike, held outside the Central Java regional KPU office,
\nwas held to pressure the commission to annul its decision.<\/p>\n
The protesters argued that the disqualification discriminated
\nagainst citizens with disabilities, like the nearly blind Gus

MANADO, North Sulawesi: Poland Ambassador to Indonesia
\nKrzysztof Izumski began on Tuesday a two-day visit to the North
\nSulawesi capital of Manado to bolster trade with the province.<\/p>\n
Izumski said North Sulawesi was chosen, as Poland spends
\nUS$300,000 on procuring copra and canned fish from the province.<\/p>\n
He said Poland was interested in exporting food processing
\nequipment to the province and in investing in the local

JAKARTA: Legislators here agreed on Tuesday to bring a bill on
\na Truth and Reconciliation Commission to a smaller committee for
\ndeliberation.<\/p>\n
Committee chairman Sidharto Danusubroto said the committee
\nwould help legislators finish deliberating the bill before their
\nfive-year term ends in September.<\/p>\n
The committee, consisting of 21 legislators, is to start

\nreported to police<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Around 50 agents and employees of PT Prudential
\nreported on Tuesday a receiver of the bankrupt company, Yuhelson,
\nto the National Police for closing the firm's operation on April
\n23.<\/p>\n
Their lawyer, Petrus Bala P., said his clients accused
\nYuhelson of breaching Article 335 of the Criminal Code on
\ncontemptuous conduct and requested that a court replace Yuhelson.<\/p>\n
Yuhelson had no authority to close the company's operation at
\nthat time because he had not received a court order, Petrus said,
