A member of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Police’s IT division,
identified by the initials MCG, has been named a suspect in the rape of
a female university student. The suspect’s status was confirmed by the
victim’s advocate, Joko Jumadi. “As far as I know, he has been named a
suspect by the regional police,” said Joko, a representative of the NTB
Stop Sexual Violence Coalition, on Thursday (25/6/2026). Information
gathered indicates that MCG has been detained at the NTB Police
detention centre for approximately one week. The Director of Women and
Children Protection and Human Trafficking Eradication at NTB Police,
Commissioner Ni Made Pujewati, did not provide any comment when
contacted. Similarly, the Head of Public Relations for NTB Police,
Commissioner Mohammad Kholid, did not respond to messages. Joko
previously revealed that the victim in this case is a female university
student. The incident allegedly occurred in February 2026 at a boarding
house in the Ampenan area of Mataram City. The perpetrator is accused of
carrying out the assault by verbally threatening the victim. Prior to
the case being reported, the victim had requested that the perpetrator
marry her. “I helped with mediation, and eventually the perpetrator
agreed to marry the victim,” Joko stated. However, the marriage plan was
later cancelled by the victim after the perpetrator was discovered to be
having an affair with another woman. Following the cancellation, the
case was reported to the NTB Police.
",
