The names of former East Lombok Regent Sukiman Azmy and Regional\nSecretary Muhammad Juaini Taofik have resurfaced in the verdict of a\ncorruption case involving the procurement of information and\ncommunication technology equipment, specifically chromebooks, at the\nEast Lombok Education and Culture Office in 2022.<\/p>\n
The panel of judges at the Nusa Tenggara Barat High Court, chaired by\nAhmad Yasin with members CH Retno Damayanti and Diah Susilowati, ordered\nthe East Lombok District Prosecutor\u2019s Office to expand the investigation\ninto the two individuals. Sukiman Azmy is alleged to have received\naround Rp 1 billion, while Muhammad Juaini Taofik allegedly received\naround Rp 500 million.<\/p>\n
The order came after the appellate court agreed with the Mataram\nCorruption Court, which previously handled the case. The judges assessed\nthat there were strong indications of their involvement.<\/p>\n
\u201cOrdering the public prosecutor to follow up on these trial facts by\ndeepening and expanding the investigation into former East Lombok Regent\nSukiman Azmy and East Lombok Regional Secretary Muhammad Juaini Taofik,\nin accordance with laws and regulations,\u201d said CH Retno Damayanti while\nreading the considerations in the verdict of defendant As\u2019ad, former\nSecretary of the East Lombok Education and Culture Office, on Wednesday\n(17\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n
According to the panel, the order constitutes a moral and juridical\nobligation to ensure that law enforcement is carried out comprehensively\nand without discrimination.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd to reach all parties who are reasonably suspected of being\nresponsible,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Thus, the handling of the case will not stop at the six defendants\nwho have been tried.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut must be developed to uncover all parties involved in order to\nachieve substantive justice,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n
The panel also emphasised that prosecutors must follow up on all\ntrial facts revealed in the case.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe appellate court panel reiterates to the public prosecutor to\nfollow up on these facts,\u201d she stressed.<\/p>\n
In this case, defendants As\u2019ad, Salmukin, M Jaosi, and Amrulloh have\nbeen found guilty by the appellate court with varying sentences.<\/p>\n
Defendants Amrulloh and As\u2019ad were each sentenced to six years in\nprison and a fine of Rp 300 million, subsidiary to 100 days of\nconfinement.<\/p>\n
Defendant Salmukin was sentenced to eight years in prison and a fine\nof Rp 500 million, subsidiary to 140 days of confinement, and is\nrequired to pay restitution of more than Rp 2 billion, subsidiary to\nfour years of imprisonment.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, M Jaosi was sentenced to seven years in prison and a fine\nof Rp 350 million, subsidiary to 110 days of confinement, as well as\nrestitution for state losses amounting to Rp 238 million, subsidiary to\nthree years of imprisonment.<\/p>\n
For defendants Libert Hutahaean and Lia Anggawari, the Mataram\nCorruption Court sentenced them to seven years and seven years and six\nmonths in prison, respectively.<\/p>\n
Both were also fined Rp 500 million each. If unpaid, the fines will\nbe replaced by 100 days of confinement.<\/p>\n
Additionally, both are required to pay restitution. Lia Anggawari\nmust pay Rp 534 million, while Libert Hutahaean must pay Rp 3.2 billion.\nIf unpaid, the restitution will be replaced by prison sentences of three\nyears and six months, respectively.<\/p>\n
