The fate of people\ndown below depends on what our forestry officers do here,\u2019 he said\nduring a tree-planting event at the Air Terjun Benang Kelambu tourist\narea, Lombok Tengah, on Friday. Iqbal expressed concern after touring\nNTB, particularly Sumbawa island and southern Lombok, observing that\nforest damage has become a major trigger for various natural disasters\nharming communities recently. \u2018A week ago we experienced three days of\nrain in a row; floods occurred at 14 points. All of this was caused by\nforest damage,\u2019 Iqbal said. Therefore, coinciding with the Ramadhan\nmonth, he interpreted fasting as a moment to refrain from behaviours\nthat harm the environment. He also asked forest rangers to regard\nforests as part of themselves and their families.
