The purchase of climate quotas remains controversial in Norway. The\nRed Party (R\u00f8dt) has reacted to the agreement.<\/p>\n

The government most recently faced criticism for the practice when it\nsubmitted its new climate targets to the United Nations on Thursday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe government, the Conservative Party and the Liberal Party have\nensured that we can comfortably reach this target without cutting more\nemissions in Norway. Instead, we can simply buy quotas in African\ncountries and the EU,\u201d said Green Party leader Arild Hermstad.<\/p>\n
