Northwest seeks SEA partner<\/p>\n
NEW YORK (Reuters): Northwest Airlines Corp, fresh on the
\nheels of a pact with China Air, is looking for a partner in
\nSoutheast Asia and would consider taking an equity stake if
\nnecessary, Northwest Chairman Gary Wilson said Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Wilson, who was in New York to announce a code-sharing
\nagreement with Air China, said the company has been looking \"at a
\nnumber of major airlines in Southeast Asia.\"<\/p>\n
When asked if Northwest would consider an equity stake in
\nanother airline, such as its stake in Continental Airlines,
\nWilson told Reuters: \"We're a company that has grown through
\nalliances, but if it takes a little capital...there are some
\nSoutheast Asian carriers that are having financial problems.
\nWe're looking at a number of them, but nothing major, nothing on
\nthe scale of Continental.\"<\/p>\n
In January Northwest purchased a 14 percent stake in
\nContinental and also entered a code-sharing agreement with the
\nHouston-based airline.<\/p>",
