Medan (ANTARA) - The Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution,\nsupports the implementation of comprehensive corruption prevention\ninvolving all regional government stakeholders.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt must be comprehensive because North Sumatra and other regions\nconsist of many stakeholders who are naturally interconnected,\u201d Bobby\nexplained following the Coordination Meeting on Strengthening Regional\nGovernment Governance and Corruption Prevention in North Sumatra at the\nNorth Sumatra Governor\u2019s Office, Medan, on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The Governor stated that corruption prevention cannot focus solely on\nthe regional government, as many stakeholders are linked to local\nauthorities.<\/p>\n
During this coordination meeting, the Governor of North Sumatra,\ntogether with 33 regional heads across North Sumatra, signed a joint\ncommitment with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to improve\ngovernment governance.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, a collective effort is required to ensure that corruption\nprevention and handling are carried out thoroughly,\u201d said Bobby.<\/p>\n
He ensured that the North Sumatra Provincial Government, along with\n3undred and 3 regional heads and local regional parliaments (DPRD), is\ncommitted to improving governance and strengthening integrity.<\/p>\n
The Governor emphasised that the presence of the KPK in North Sumatra\nserves as a reminder for local governments to continuously enhance\nintegrity in their administration.<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether with other regional heads and the DPRD, we are committed to\nimproving, anticipating, and preventing corruption. The KPK today\nreminds us to continue increasing our integrity,\u201d said Bobby.<\/p>\n
KPK Deputy Chairman Johanis Tanak stated that the role of the\nGovernment Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP) is vital in efforts to\nimprove governance. According to him, the Ministry of Home Affairs\n(Kemendagri) can strengthen the position of APIP in the regions so that\nit serves as an early warning system for regional heads and civil\nservants (ASN).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also need to strengthen the position of APIP. They should not\nonly be appointed in the regions but must also receive approval from the\nMinistry of Home Affairs,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, they cannot be dismissed by regional heads or officials;\nit must be the Ministry of Home Affairs. Furthermore, we must strengthen\ntheir legal framework through a Presidential Regulation (Perpres),\u201d\nadded Johanis.<\/p>\n
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Akhmad Wiyagus stated that the\nposition of APIP in preventing corruption within regional governments is\ncrucial, as deviations occurring in the regions can be detected and\naddressed before entering the legal realm.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf the APIP is high-quality, then governance will function better.\nIf there are deviations, there is an option for restitution before it\nreaches law enforcement agencies (APH),\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf it is not implemented, only then does it proceed to law\nenforcement.
