Medan (ANTARA) - North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution has affirmed\nthat food security is the responsibility of government down to village\nlevel, as the issue is fundamental and crucial to society\u2019s needs.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat is why food security is the responsibility of government at\nevery level,\u201d Bobby said after attending the closing ceremony of the\nTani Merdeka North Sumatra-Aceh training and education programme at the\nNorth Sumatra Provincial Human Resources Development Agency Hall on\nTuesday.<\/p>\n
He said that meeting basic needs and ensuring food security is not\nsolely the responsibility of the head of household, but of government\nfrom village through to national level.<\/p>\n
President Prabowo Subianto, Bobby said, has made food security one of\nthe government\u2019s priority programmes.<\/p>\n
The programme must be implemented down to the lowest levels and\nunderstood by the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur task is to ensure the President\u2019s programme is implemented,\nreaches the lowest levels, and is understood,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Governor also assessed that the various programmes of President\nPrabowo, including in the agricultural sector, are running well and\nshowing results, such as the absorption of harvests.<\/p>\n
Data from state logistics firm Perum Bulog as of 24 July 2026 shows\nit has absorbed 3.5 million tonnes of rice equivalent from domestic\nfarmers\u2019 harvests, or around 87 per cent of the national target of 4\nmillion tonnes.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday we see the programmes carried out by the President are all\naligned, including in agriculture. We know from the data how the\nabsorption from farmers today is already very good,\u201d Bobby said.<\/p>\n
He also invited Tani Merdeka to continue strengthening collaboration\nwith the North Sumatra Provincial Government, particularly in\nimplementing various agricultural sector programmes.<\/p>\n
\u201cLater, with Tani Merdeka, perhaps we can collaborate on the\nprogrammes. Because we are confident they have all the experts there,\u201d\nBobby said.<\/p>\n
The Chair of the Tani Merdeka North Sumatra Regional Board,\nGusmiyadi, expressed appreciation to Governor Bobby Nasution for his\nsupport of the agricultural sector.<\/p>\n
He also backed the application of agricultural and livestock zoning\nin North Sumatra, viewing it as a strategic step for developing the\nregion\u2019s food sector.<\/p>\n
He noted that North Sumatra failed to host the 2029 National Farmers\nand Fishermen Week, and that instead North Sumatra will host a meeting\nof farmers from across Indonesia.<\/p>\n
