        "content": "<p>Medan (ANTARA) - North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution has stated\nthat a number of Central Tapanuli (Tapteng) residents are building\ntemporary shelters independently on their own housing plots.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to observing conditions first-hand, Bobby also engaged in\ndialogue with homeowners whose properties were severely damaged by flash\nfloods, offering them encouragement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will utilise available funds to help build permanent housing for\nresidents whose homes have suffered severe damage,\u201d Bobby said in Sorkam\nSubdistrict, Central Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra, on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The governor noted that his team, accompanied by Central Tapanuli\nDeputy Regent Mahmud Efendi Lubis and an entourage, had first inspected\nthe condition of a dam damaged by the disaster.<\/p>\n<p>The dam has become a key focus for the government, given its vital\nrole in irrigating the community\u2019s rice paddies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom there, we proceeded directly to inspect the homes of residents\naffected by the flash floods here in Sorkam,\u201d Bobby said.<\/p>\n<p>During the visit, Bobby also chose to hold his first iftar of the\nholy month of Ramadan 2026 together with the community at a resident\u2019s\ntemporary shelter.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of Central Tapanuli residents appeared enthusiastic in\nwelcoming the North Sumatra Governor and his entourage. The gathering\nwas followed by congregational Maghrib prayers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government has prepared a budget for the rehabilitation and\nreconstruction of community housing. So for residents whose homes are\nseverely damaged, the assistance is Rp60 million [for independent\nrebuilding],\u201d Bobby explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am here to ensure that residents can obtain their entitlements.\nEspecially during this month of Ramadan, they must still be able to\nworship comfortably,\u201d Bobby said before dining together with residents\nat the site.<\/p>\n<p>The series of activities by North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution in\nSorkam, Central Tapanuli, concluded with congregational Isha and Tarawih\nprayers at the Al-Azhar Mosque in Sorkam Kiri.<\/p>\n<p>Before leaving the mosque, Bobby took time to greet worshippers and\ndistribute snack parcels to children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe very much wanted to visit all disaster-affected locations in\nCentral Tapanuli.
