        "content": "<p>Medan (ANTARA) - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency\n(BMKG) has stated that parts of North Sumatra remain at risk of rain due\nto wind shearlines and active atmospheric wave activity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition, this is also due to sufficiently unstable air\nconditions that support convective processes and the formation of rain\nclouds,\u201d said Putri Hafizah, a forecaster at BMKG Regional Office I, in\nMedan on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The presence of a cyclone seed over the Indian Ocean to the west of\nSumatra has also triggered the formation of a wind shearline and\nconvergence zones along the west coast to the eastern slopes of North\nSumatra.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, ongoing atmospheric wave activity and warm sea surface\ntemperatures are increasing the potential for rain cloud formation.<\/p>\n<p>The unstable atmospheric conditions also support convection, thereby\nraising the likelihood of convective cloud growth.<\/p>\n<p>These conditions could trigger the growth of convective clouds in the\nafternoon and evening, potentially bringing moderate to heavy rain\naccompanied by lightning and brief, locally strong winds in a number of\nareas across North Sumatra.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe weather in North Sumatra over the coming week will generally be\ndominated by moderate to heavy rain conditions,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Areas potentially experiencing moderate to heavy rain include Langkat\nRegency, Binjai, Medan, Deli Serdang, Serdang Bedagai, Tebing Tinggi,\nBatubara, Asahan, North Labuhanbatu, South Labuhanbatu, and Pakpak\nBharat.<\/p>",
