In a commentary published by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA),\nPyongyang criticised NATO\u2019s reported plans to expand and modernise its\nmilitary fuel transport system throughout Europe. The fuel transport\nsystem includes new pipelines and energy storage facilities connecting\nWestern Europe with new member states in the east and north.<\/p>\n
Pyongyang\u2019s commentary claimed that the project reflects NATO\u2019s focus\non maintaining strategic war reserves and accused the alliance of\npreparing for conflicts outside of Europe, including in the\nAsia-Pacific.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn recent years, NATO, which has spoken about the separation of\nsecurity in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, has increasingly\nintroduced the strategic assets of its member states into the\nAsia-Pacific region, demonstrating its military presence,\u201d KCNA\nclaimed.<\/p>\n
Pyongyang also criticised the participation of NATO members in\nmultinational military exercises, such as the Rim of the Pacific\nexercise, arguing that it proves the alliance views the Asia-Pacific as\na potential battlefield. The commentary alleged that the increase in\nNATO\u2019s military strength and the expansion of its logistics aim to\nenable rapid military operations worldwide, warning that such efforts\nwill escalate global tensions.<\/p>\n
