On behalf of residents of Taman Manggis Permai housing complex
\nin Depok, south of Jakarta, we would like to express our aversion
\nconcerning the dumping of toxic chemical elements into a nearby
\nriver by a noodle factory, PT IJ, and a chemical factory PT N
\nlocated on kilometer 35 in Bogor.<\/p>\n
We residents of RT07 and RW 20 neighborhood community of
\nSukamaju sub-district in Sukmajaya, have been subjected to foul
\nodors from morning till night. We understand that continuous
\nexposure of such dangerous chemicals can cause breathing
\ndifficulties.<\/p>\n
Our predicament has worsened now that the dry season has
\narrived as the odor has become much stronger.<\/p>\n
The color of the water in the river changes from milky white
\nin the morning to blackish at night or occasionally red.<\/p>\n
Members of the local administration and members of the
\nprovincial House of Representatives have visited the factories
\nbut there has been no change so far in terms of the chemical
\ndumping.<\/p>\n
We have also submitted a written complaint to the Bapedal
\n(Environment Impact Management Agency) but to no avail.<\/p>\n
