Nonviolence demonstration<\/p>\n
As one of the participants of a demonstration I object to a
\nnews report in The Jakarta Post saying that the demonstration was
\ncoordinated by Endang. The action was organized by LBH APIK NTB,
\na legal aid institution in West Nusa Tenggara, to celebrate the
\nanniversary of the institution and the day of nonviolence against
\nwomen all over the world. I participated in the demonstration
\nbecause I am one of the clients of LBH APIK NTB.<\/p>\n
The report, titled 200 women protest against violence\" in the
\nPost on Nov. 15, said that participants of the demonstration
\nconsisted of 200 women, whereas in fact the action also involved
\nmen who opposed violence against women.<\/p>\n
My name is Patricia Alma Williams, 83, not Patrice Anne
\nWilliams, as reported by the Post, and I am an Indonesian citizen
\n(I hold a resident's identification card from Mataram, Lombok,
\nWest Nusa Tenggara).<\/p>\n
I also have an objection to the Post's report saying that Jean
\nMarrie Wagneries had tortured me. The truth is that it was an
\nassault rather than torture. I reported the case directly to the
\nWest Lombok police, not the Gili Meno police (local police).<\/p>\n
The Post said that the police did not do any follow up due to
\nthe absence of witnesses. I never said so.<\/p>\n
