No spies deployed: ABRI<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): City Military Commander Maj. Gen. Djadja
\nSuparman said on Sunday that his command stopped deploying
\nintelligence officers at campuses after the massive May riots.<\/p>\n
\"After the May incident, we stationed no more intelligence
\nofficers at campuses to monitor the students,\" Djadja said.<\/p>\n
Djadja made the remarks in response to an announcement on
\nSaturday by Wiwid Pratiwo, a student of Trisakti University's air
\ntransportation management school, was recruited as an informer by
\nan officer of the military police's presidential guard unit.<\/p>\n
Wiwid, 21, mentioned the soldier as second class private BL.<\/p>\n
May's rioting was sparked by a shooting incident on May 12
\nwhich claimed the lives of four students from Trisakti University
\nin West Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Djadja said the military police were investigating the
\nperson mentioned by Wiwid, from whom he claimed to have received
\nwarnings several hours in advance that soldiers would open fire
\non the afternoon of Nov. 13 near the Atma Jaya University campus.<\/p>\n
\"There are three second class private officers with the
\ninitials BL, one is Bambang Leksono and the others are still
\nbeing investigated by the national military police commander,\"
\nDjadja was quoted by Antara as saying.<\/p>\n
He said Wiwid should have reported the case earlier to
\nsecurity officers.<\/p>\n
\"If he said he was pressured by the security officer, he
\nshould have come to us openly. I would have received him and
\nprotect him from any threats,\" he said. (ivy)<\/p>",
