        "content": "<p>No-Smoking call goes unheeded<\/p>\n<p>MEDAN, North Sumatra: The May 31 'No-Smoking Day', launched by<br>\nthe World Health Organization (WHO), passed largely unheeded in<br>\nIndonesia's third-largest city.<\/p>\n<p>Cigarette smoke rose freely, as usual, from bus terminals,<br>\nmarkets, roadside food stalls and even from the city police<br>\nheadquarters, Antara reported.<\/p>\n<p>Some people said they were unaware of the world organization's<br>\ncall to refrain from smoking for one day. They claimed they did<br>\nnot know that yesterday was world \"No Tobacco Day.\"<\/p>\n<p>Public ignorance regarding the call was a source of dismay to<br>\nthe chief of the North Sumatra provincial health office, Masrul<br>\nSiregar, who had published an announcement in local newspapers.<\/p>\n<p>\"We have even posted notices at hospitals and other public<br>\nplaces about the WHO appeal,\" he said.
