JAKARTA (JP): The regency of Badung, which governs Kuta beach,
\npromised to stamp out the area's illicit sex trade.<\/p>\n
"Bali is not Hollywood," Kompyang R. Swandika, the head of the
\nregency's tourism office, told Antara.<\/p>\n
"Everything that smacks of the sex trade is forbidden here.
\nEverything must comply with the rules and the norms of the
\nBalinese culture," he said.<\/p>\n
Kompyang said Bali is not selling sex tourism, and that
\nresorting to the concept would destroy the island's image.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, Kompyang headed an inspection of massage parlors
\nand karaoke clubs, often rumored to be fronts for brothels.<\/p>\n
The news agency failed to report if the operation caught
\nanyone in the act, but Kompyang did discover that many of the
