BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: Lampung State University Rector
\nAlhusniduki Hamim's legislative candidacy for the Golkar has met
\nstrong opposition.<\/p>\n
Thousands of anonymous colorful leaflets left in classrooms,
\ncorridors and on roadsides on the campus demanded yesterday that
\nHamim should withdraw from the election and apologize to the
\nuniversity.<\/p>\n
The rector is ranked 17 on the list, meaning that if Golkar
\nwins at least 17 seats in Lampung in the May 29 election he will
\nbecome a member of the House of Representatives in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The leaflets also said that the rector should not risk his
\nintegrity by affiliating with any political organization.<\/p>\n
Hamim was quoted by Antara as saying he did not take the
\nleaflets seriously because he believed the authors had their own
\npolitical interests.<\/p>\n
\"There is no reason to make an issue out of it ,\" he said,
\nadding that he would not turn his campus into a political stage
