Mangindaan said<br>\nthat Manado, capital of the province, is temporary closed to any<br>\nnew hotel investment as there are already many star-rated hotels<br>\nin operation.<\/p>\n<p>He said there were five hotels under construction in Manado.<\/p>\n<p>\"So, temporarily there will be no more licenses for new<br>\nhotels,\" Antara quoted Mangindaan as saying in Manado Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>North Sulawesi expects a tourism boom following the expansion<br>\nof international facilities of Manado's Sam Ratulangi airport and<br>\nBitung seaport late last year.<\/p>\n<p>Several star-rated hotels, including those managed by<br>\ninternational hotel chains, operate in Manado including Hotel<br>\nLikupang, Hotel Santika, and Sedona, Radisson.<\/p>\n<p>Official data shows there are 11 star-rated hotels with 787<br>\nrooms and 104 non-star-rated hotels with 1,264 rooms in North<br>\nSulawesi.<\/p>\n<p>Mangindaan said the five new hotels currently under<br>\nconstruction would be able to accommodate tourists until 2000,<br>\nwhen Manado needs 2,000 hotel rooms.
