President Megawati Soekarnoputri and Vice President Hamzah Haz
\nstated that making a deliberate consensus would be preferable in
\nmaking decisions at the upcoming People's Consultative Assembly's
\n(MPR) Annual Session in August, especially on the fourth
\namendment of the 1945 Constitution.<\/p>\n
Politicians, observers and the media have quickly reacted to
\nthe statements.<\/p>\n
As an everyday person, who always struggles to make ends meet,
\nrather than observe political issues, I am of the opinion that
\nthe political elite's arguments have led to a conflict of
\ninterest among them. But this has become more of a burden to
\npeople like me.<\/p>\n
With the economic crisis showing no signs of slowing,
\npolitical discourses developed by the political elite have raised
\nthe political temperature before the MPR Annual Session. This has
\ndeteriorated the people's way of life and become burdensome for
\nthe country.<\/p>\n
Megawati's and Hamzah's preference to a consensus, or a voting
\nsystem to make decisions at the MPR session, should not be
\npoliticized.<\/p>\n
Whatever the political elite takes, please don't put the
\nburden on the people.<\/p>\n
