        "content": "<p>No model example<\/p>\n<p>What has made other countries develop better than Indonesia? <br>\nThere must be many factors, but we are of the opinion that <br>\ndiscipline is the key.<\/p>\n<p>Discipline must derive from &quot;above&quot;, meaning that it is <br>\nimpossible to expect people to be disciplined without their <br>\nleaders first setting a good example of discipline.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, our elites have always failed to set a model <br>\nexample of discipline.<\/p>\n<p>The newest example is the ongoing People&apos;s Consultative <br>\nAssembly Annual Session. On the first day, only 498 of 679 <br>\nAssembly members were present, but at the close of the first <br>\nday&apos;s session, only 393 Assembly members remained.<\/p>\n<p>Worse, they had irrational excuses for skipping the opening <br>\nday of the Rp 20 billion Annual Session. Golkar Party Chairman <br>\nAkbar Tandjung, for example, said that he preferred meeting <br>\nGolkar cadres of Bekasi and Bogor to joining the noble session. <br>\nHowever, all members of the Assembly, without fail, should have <br>\njoined the annual gathering at which major decisions are expected <br>\nto be made.<\/p>\n<p>Some people may say that there are no strategic issues to be <br>\ndiscussed at the Annual Session. The question, then, is why must <br>\nsuch a costly meeting be held?<\/p>\n<p>So what could we possibly expect from such unscrupulous <br>\nAssembly members? They don&apos;t care about the fate of the nation, <br>\nfor which they should be accountable.
