        "content": "<p>'No migrant workers in Nunukan'<\/p>\n<p>SAMARINDA: Administration officials in Nunukan denied the<br>\npresence of around 30,000 migrant workers in the regency, saying<br>\nthat it was just a rumor aimed at creating public unrest.<\/p>\n<p>The head of the migrant workers repatriation team, Kasmir<br>\nForet, said that Nunukan was normal and that nothing<br>\nextraordinary had happened in the city.<\/p>\n<p>Kasmir, however, admitted that there were indeed a number of<br>\nreturning migrant workers from Malaysia. But he was quick to<br>\nremark that the workers only visited the city to renew their<br>\nimmigration documents.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, around 65,000 migrant workers who were deported by<br>\nthe Malaysian government flooded the small city in the<br>\nnorthernmost tip of East Kalimantan province.<\/p>\n<p>More than 50 workers died of hunger and disease in temporary<br>\ncamps in the town. --JP<\/p>",
