Hindarto is considering doing<br>\naway with the three-in-one traffic rule on Saturdays as the five-<br>\nday work week for civil servants takes effect next August.<\/p>\n<p>\"We are seriously considering wiping out the three-in-one<br>\ntraffic policy on Saturdays next year,\" Hindarto said on Tuesday<br>\nas quoted by Antara.<\/p>\n<p>The traffic rule, which was introduced in April 1992, requires<br>\nall vehicles to carry at least three passengers (including the<br>\ndriver) in certain restricted zones. The policy was an effort to<br>\nreduce the chronic traffic jams on Jakarta's main streets during<br>\nthe morning rush hour.<\/p>\n<p>Hindarto said  he proposed the plan because with civil<br>\nservants not commuting, the roads might not be clogged with cars<br>\non Saturdays.<\/p>\n<p>\"I believe most civil servants will prefer to stay at home on<br>\nSaturday morning when the five-day work week policy takes<br>\neffect,\" he said.
