        "content": "<p>Nine still missing in landslide<\/p>\n<p>SINJAI, South Sulawesi (JP): Rescue workers blamed difficult<br>\nterrain for their failure on Thursday to unearth the bodies of<br>\nnine people still missing following a landslide early Wednesday<br>\nin Pattiro hamlet, Bonto Salama village, West Sinjai district.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to two bodies pulled out of the landslide on<br>\nWednesday and the nine people still missing, some 100 families<br>\nhave been forced to evacuate the area for fear of further<br>\nlandslides. Seven houses, some 60 hectares of rice fields and 80<br>\nhectares of chocolate and candlenut plantations were also damaged<br>\nin the landslide.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of kilometers of road were also damaged. Financial<br>\nlosses from the landslide are estimated at Rp 4.6 billion<br>\n(approximately US$686,567).<\/p>\n<p>Sinjai Regent H.M. Roem confirmed that nine people were still<br>\nmissing. They have been identified as Jamari, his wife Cece and<br>\ntheir children Hasir, Hasma, Canni, Keke and Sanny; and Pale, his<br>\nwife Nija and their ten-year-old child. Two bodies -- Jamari and<br>\nCece's daughter Cika and Pale and Nija's son Iwan -- were pulled<br>\nfrom the landslide on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Roem said some aid had been dispatched to the evacuees. \"The<br>\ndisaster coincided with floods in several areas of Sinjai.\"<\/p>\n<p>Landslides also occurred in the districts of Central Sinjai<br>\nand Bulupodo, cutting off the road connecting Sinjai and Manipi.<br>\nNo fatalities occurred in these landslides.<\/p>\n<p>In Sinjai mayoralty and East Sinjai district, flood waters up<br>\nto two meters in height damaged hundreds of hectares of<br>\nfishponds. Financial losses from the floods are estimated at Rp<br>\n3.25 billion. (27\/30)<\/p>",
