        "content": "<p>Nine missing after RP boat hijack<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (AFP): Nine Filipino fishermen have been reported<br>\nmissing for almost two weeks after their boat was hijacked by<br>\nunidentified armed men in the disputed Spratly islands in the<br>\nSouth China Sea, a Philippine military report said here on<br>\nThursday.<\/p>\n<p>The locally-registered fishing boat, identified as ML Alfie,<br>\nwas off Half-Moon Shoal, among the Philippine-controlled areas in<br>\nthe Spratlys, when the incident occurred on April 14, the report<br>\nsaid. Those missing were among 13 fishermen in four boats<br>\ngathering sea cucumbers.<\/p>\n<p>The pirates took away the ML Alfie and a fishermen in it while<br>\nthe other fishermen were left languishing in their three small<br>\nboats.<\/p>\n<p>Four of the fishermen managed to come ashore while the others<br>\nare still missing.<\/p>\n<p>The Spratlys is a chain of islands in the South China Sea<br>\nwhich are wholly or partially claimed by Brunei, China, Malaysia,<br>\nthe Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam. All but Brunei have troops<br>\nposted in the area.<\/p>",
