Nike whisks athletes into the digital age<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Nike Inc. is taking athletes into the digital
\nage with a new high-tech sports gear division called nike[techlab
\n- where athlete-inspired innovations and technology collide.<\/p>\n
Several years in development, nike[techlab combines a top-
\nnotch design staff with some of the premier engineering minds in
\ntechnology, according to www.nike.com.<\/p>\n
Nike[techlab pushes the limits of sports technology to create
\ncutting-edge tools for the sports and fitness consumer.<\/p>\n
\"Essentially, Nike has stuck a wire in sports,\" said Clare
\nHamill, vice president of Nike Equipment.<\/p>\n
\"Keeping the athlete in mind, [techlab will pioneer products
\nthat fuse sports and technology for the benefit of today's
\ndigital athlete.\"<\/p>\n
The first of five new products from nike[techlab is the
\nPersonal Sport Audio (PSA) Play 120, which appeared in overseas
\nretail outlets late last year with a price tag of US$299.<\/p>\n
No word yet from Nike whether the gadget is available in its
\noutlets in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
A collaboration with S3's industry-leading Diamond Multimedia
\ndivision - makers of Rio Audio - nike[techlab's sleek PSA[Play
\n120 combines digital audio technology with extended memory
\nfeatures.<\/p>\n
The player's solid state design means no skipping, reduced
\nsize and increased battery life.<\/p>\n
Here are some of the details:<\/p>\n
* Delivers up to 120 minutes of digital quality music with 64<\/p>\n
megabytes built-in memory.<\/p>\n
* Multiple format digital audio technology plays various<\/p>\n
digital formats, either downloaded from the Internet or<\/p>\n
converted from the user's own CD collection.<\/p>\n
* Full function wearable remote control with dot matrix LCD<\/p>\n
display improves sport utility when in use, streamlines<\/p>\n
package when not in use.<\/p>\n
* Ergonomic oval shape improves comfort while being worn on<\/p>\n
body or in pocket.<\/p>\n
* Audible cues confirm button functions with audible feedback<\/p>\n
for \"blind\" operation.<\/p>\n
Package includes all necessary software and cables, belt clip
\nand arm band, premium headphones, plus player and remote.<\/p>\n
The PSA[Play will be followed by four other new products
\nscheduled to arrive in retail stores abroad soon.<\/p>\n
