Niarta JasaNet launches e-market for exporters<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): PT Niarta JasaNet, a local dotcom company,
\nlaunched on Wednesday indoTradeCenter.com, a B2B e-market for
\nIndonesian exporters to meet foreign buyers through the
\nInternet.<\/p>\n
Niarta senior advisor Markus Straub said at the launching
\nceremony that indoTradeCenter.com would focus on small and
\nmedium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the furniture and handicraft
\nsectors in the first year. Other products would be included
\nlater.<\/p>\n
\"Furniture and handicrafts are potential markets since they
\nare in the top ten of Indonesian exports,\" he said, noting that
\ntotal exports from the two sectors reached $1.2 billion in 1999.<\/p>\n
Niarta Jasanet hoped to enlist 30 to 40 exporters in the first
\nthree months, starting with three members at the time of the
\nservice's launching, he said.<\/p>\n
The company initially would approach buyers in Europe before
\ncovering the rest of the world, he added.<\/p>\n
Straub was optimistic that the virtual market would be
\nprofitable after 18 to 24 months, with revenues coming from
\nmembership fees and charges for transactions and deliveries.<\/p>\n
The market is supported by the Association of Exporters and
\nProducers of Indonesian Handicrafts (ASEPHI), the Indonesian
\nFurniture and Handicrafts Association (ASMINDO), the German
\nCentre Indonesia, state surveyor company PT Sucofindo, logistics
\nservices provider PT Geologistics Indonesia Perdana, event
\norganizer PT Mediatama Binakreasi, and Bank CIC, he said. (05)<\/p>",
