        "content": "<p>NGO's views<\/p>\n<p>As one of the non-governmental organizations (NGO) which was<br>\nalso present at the Police Headquarters on April 18, 1995<br>\ndemanding that the case of Sri Bintang Pamungkas be handled<br>\nimmediately, we would like to give our views, regardless his<br>\ninvolvement in the recent demonstration in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>* Bintang is too proud of his intellectual standing and the<br>\nrelations he has with international circles, so that he forgets<br>\nhis responsibility for improving the country's condition i.e.<br>\nmany problems which concern the majority of the people and which<br>\nstill call for the government's attention. Unemployment, poverty,<br>\npolitical and law consciousness and other pressing problems are<br>\nawaiting solution by various parties including intellectuals like<br>\nSri Bintang.<\/p>\n<p>* There is an impression that Sri Bintang' actions are only<br>\nmeant for gaining popularity and giving surprises to the people.<br>\nIn fact, continuous efforts and clear cut programs are required<br>\nin order to improve the country's condition. Most NGO's are<br>\nthinking and trying hard to achieve the goal.<\/p>\n<p>* We didn't hear Sri Bintang making any statements concerning<br>\nthe demonstrations in Hanover and Dresden. He should have been on<br>\nthe defense of his President that has been improperly treated by<br>\nother nation. Then we have every reason to doubt his sense of<br>\nnationalism.<\/p>\n<p>* We would like in this context to warn the government of the<br>\ndecreasing patriotism  which has to be appropriately dealt with<br>\nparticularly in the interest and the future of the younger<br>\ngenerations. Therefore, it will be quite relevant for the<br>\ngovernment to oblige all students to join pramuka (boy and girl<br>\nscouts organization). Youth programs should be activated. Provide<br>\nthe young people with correct and rational education on politics<br>\nand law.<\/p>\n<p>* On the other hand, the young people should also exercise<br>\ncritical thinking in order to distinguish the real patriots from<br>\nthe false ones.<\/p>\n<p>DIDIN BURHANUDIN<\/p>\n<p>Institution for the Preparation of the Future<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta<\/p>",
