        "content": "<p>NGO activists quizzed for libel<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: The police questioned on Monday an activist of non-<br>\ngovernmental organization Center for Democracy and Social Justice<br>\nStudies (Cedsos) over a libel complaint filed by Nur Hidayat, the<br>\nleader of Laskar Sabililah, in December last year.<\/p>\n<p>Cedsos executive John Mempi was questioned as a witness in the<br>\npublishing of Cedsos' book titled The Conspiracy of Intelligent<br>\nand Islamic Radical Movements, which was edited by Umar Abduh.<\/p>\n<p>The book cites Nur Hidayat as a \"provocateur\", \"perpetrator of<br>\nthe Christmas bombings\", and having \"played a role in the murder<br>\nof Abu Jihad\".<\/p>\n<p>Cedsos, supported by several other NGOs such as the Commission<br>\nfor Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras),<br>\ndistributed a release defending the book as an effort to convey<br>\nwhat is behind the Islamic radical movements in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>The release also said that the book only depicted what was<br>\nalready published in the mass media and other written sources.<\/p>\n<p>Cedsos spokesman Garda Sembiring said that the police would<br>\ncontinue the questioning on Tuesday. --JP<\/p>",
