        "content": "<p>NGO activist arrested<\/p>\n<p>BANDUNG, West Java: The police have arrested a 31-year-old<br>\nactivist they suspect of having slandered President Soeharto,<br>\nextorted people and encouraged workers to strike for better pay.<\/p>\n<p>City police chief Col. Didi Widayadi said on Saturday that the<br>\nsuspect, Cyrtga, claimed to be the chairman of an obscure non-<br>\ngovernment organization, the National Salvation Front, which<br>\nobtains funding from both local and overseas donors.<\/p>\n<p>Cyrtga was arrested at his residence in Jakarta last week<br>\nfollowing complaints from three people in Bandung that he had<br>\nblackmailed them.<\/p>\n<p>Didi said that the suspect had been on the Jakarta police's<br>\nlist of wanted criminals since it was alleged that Cyrtga had<br>\nbeen involved in a theft in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>In the West Java police's records, Cyrtga appears among those<br>\nwanted for their role in inciting students to engage in anti-<br>\ngovernment activities and inciting workers to strike, Antara<br>\nreported yesterday.(pan)<\/p>",
